Greek inspired ground turkey burgers are lower in fat and calories than standard all-beef burgers. The flavors of fresh mint and feta liven up the turkey, making this delicious burger recipe more than a run-of-the mill grilled patty.
I love easy burger recipes, and my boys enjoy eating them as much as I do cooking them. But traditional beef burgers can be boring after a while, so creating unique burger recipes requires me to think outside of the box for flavor profiles. Because we eat a lot of Mexican meals, and because Mexican food is typically packed with calories and fat, I didn’t want to go that route. I wanted to create a healthier burger recipe, so ground turkey became my protein of choice.
Ground turkey picks up flavors well, and I love the bright, fresh flavors of Mediterranean food. So using Greek spices was a no-brainer in this burger recipe.
Greek inspired ground turkey burgers have fresh mint and coriander blended into the turkey, so they’re packed with flavor!
To keep the calories down, I use Greek yogurt instead of high calorie sour cream in the sauce, and I serve them on pita halves instead of traditional burger buns. As a result, these burgers are incredibly moist and make a much lighter meal.
Healthy side dish choices that will go well with these burgers are things with light, fresh flavors. Things like grilled veggies, baked veggie chips, or fresh vegetable salads. One of my favorites is refreshing grape, mint, and tomato salad.
I like tomatoes a lot, so I garnish the burgers with slices of green tomatoes and red tomatoes.
Greek inspired ground turkey burgers are easy to make, too. You can grill them outdoors or indoors, or they can be cooked under a broiler if you want to.
I hope you enjoy these Greek inspired ground turkey burgers!
