It’s burger time! Maybe for you, burgers have no season but in my house we crave burgers even MORE in the warm summer months. With so many ways to dress up a burger these days there are infinite ways to get creative in the kitchen- or on the grill. My husband is usually the grill master and I have him to thank for these particular chicken burgers.
In an effort to keep things like burgers on the healthy side we usually use lean meats like chicken and turkey, and we avoid laying on the cheeses. Lean meats can sometimes spell disaster for a burger patty on the grill though, because with the lower fat content, the chicken burgers can be flavorless and dry out- and fast!
We started with a blank canvas- ground chicken- and layered on tastes and flavors we love. Chicken begs for the bright taste of lime, the fresh zing of cilantro and a bit of kicked up heat with red pepper flakes. Cool all of that off with my current obsession- Sabra Guacamole. Did you know that they also make guacamole? AND they make some great salsas! ( Get the scoop HERE)
So the thing about my husband being the Grill Boss is that he doesn’t let me operate the grill very often and certainly never when burgers are on the menu. WHY? Because I mess them up that’s why. I do. I make the patties too big and build the heat too high.
His answer to making perfect burgers and one that he swears by is a patty maker. This is his secret weapon and I have to admit- it does make perfectly uniformed patties.
For these burgers, we let the ingredients stand alone in this recipe and the second best part is how economical they were. The best part of this meal was the taste.
Why eat out when you can make these delicious chicken burgers yourself for less money?
