Steakhouse Stroganoff

My kids issued me a challenge the other day. They asked me why I wouldn’t buy Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff when I had admitted earlier that day that I loved when my mom made that when I was growing up.  Of course I did, it was all meaty and saucy and was a great meal as a kid.
Now I have grown up and my tastes have changed. I am making things from a whole state. Transforming it into a healthy family meal.
Their challenge was to make a copycat version that was much tastier but not 10 times the cost. I mean-when you can get HH at the grocery store at 10 for $10 then I can see why people buy it.
Night one: I made 2 boxes of the HH version for them to get a baseline taste.  That didn’t go over well.
Night two: I made my creation.
Needless to say I think you know who won…..

This would have been great with mushrooms thrown in but my kids don’t like them so I left them out.
