Banana, Coconut & Vanilla Smoothie

When I asked my 14, soon to be 15, year old son to share his favorite smoothie with me he got right down to business. See, for my son Noah- smoothies are serious business. Noah is a competitive swimmer and where he lacks in cleaning abilities he makes up for in the smoothie making department.

This may sound strange to you but when you swim 6-8 miles a day and burn way more calories than you take in- smoothies are your friend. A few years ago Noah asked me if he could start supplementing with whey protein powder. I was unfamiliar with supplements so we asked his pediatrician at our next appointment. He suggested a brand that was tested, trusted and healthy (we still use it to this day) and he also suggested Carnation Breakfast Essentials powder to boost his fruit, dairy and yogurt smoothies.

Carnation Breakfast Essentials was a brand we were familiar with. Noah had been drinking this since he was very small. We have always had to bolster his nutrition. First it was because he was a very picky eater and now because he needs more calories, nutrition and protein/carbs than he can humanly eat in one day. Enter in the smoothie yet again.

Noah can make this in less than 2 minutes with minimal cleanup!

Noah demonstrated one of his favorites and thanks to the single serve blender I bought him he can safely make his own any time he wants. ON HIS OWN!!! (Insert hallelujah chorus here)

Carnation Breakfast Essentials® are:

An Easy solution for busy mornings

Kid friendly and can be easily prepared by kids (YES!)

Available in a variety of Ready to drink shakes, Powders and Bars

Nutritious for kids, teens, and adults

Use a blender OR a shaker. IF you use a shaker you will need to mash the banana first.

I bought my Carnation Breakfast Essentials at Kroger and with my plus card it was on sale. At a fraction of the cost of leading supplemental powders (and better tasting too) it stands to reason that I will not only save money but also be buying a brand my kids have grown up with- Carnation. Look for Carnation Breakfast Essentials offers here.
