Cooking a Beef Brisket

Welcome! Are you a subscriber? Click here to receive my weekly newsletter. Thanks for visiting!

Here I was, all ready to say Let’s start cooking! I can’t believe I forgot to post the link to the AWESOME brisket I made Saturday night.  AKA First Big Meal of 2011 Extravaganza! It’ll tell you all about cooking a beef brisket.

I was given this link by my good friend, Isabelle.  According to Jacob, I get 80% of my cooking ideas from her.  We do have very similar cooking philosophies.  We have similar tastes and well a mutual love of good, simple food….and wine ????
So here it is.  I did change it just a little.  I did not add parsnips as I can’t stand them.  I served sliced meat on a cloud of chive mashed potato’s and I made a crusty loaf of french bread to soak up all of the flavorful juices.  I also made sauteed cabbage.  Everyone actually ate it.

Give yourself at least 3 1/2 hours for this.  It is not labor intensive but it does have a few steps.  I got my Black Angus Brisket from Hampton’s, a local market.  It was a good price and a really great cut.  I bought 4 1/2 pounds.
The nice thing is that I am going to make a yummy Shepherd’s Pie from the leftovers.

If you can’t stay home to “babysit” the brisket, try my recipe for Slow Cooker Corned Beef Brisket instead.

Have fun cooking a beef brisket!
