Fresh Thyme Farmers Market Greenwood!
I am excited to share a new market coming to Greenwood, Indiana: Fresh Thyme Farmers Market! Greenwood is the first location in Indiana to get one and I could not BE more excited!
As a resident of this town for over 13 years I have often wondered WHY there were no specialty stores in my area. Currently I have to head to the northside of Indianapolis to even hit a Trader Joe’s. Do companies think that Marion/Hamilton COunties are the only places where residents like to buy specialty foods, organics, fresh meats, cheeses and breads? I guess so.
But not Fresh Thyme Farmers Market.
They saw that the need was high here and knew they could provide us with what we were driving a long way for. Being from Bloomington where there is a wealth of shopping opportunities, I thought moving closer to a larger city would broaden our choices a bit. Not so. I still drive back to my hometown periodically to get what I should be able to buy in my own backyard.
Now I can!
I invite you to visit Fresh Thyme Farmers Market. I will be there on Sunday June 15th from 12-3 doing an educational cooking demonstration and holding a Q&A with customers. The theme? Grill it for Dad! Since it IS Father’s Day afterall ????
Here is what I will be making:
A light and quick guacamole
2 avocados mashed, pinch of kosher salt, 1 can of petite diced Red Gold Tomatoes with onion (or lime & cilantro), 1/3 C chopped cilantro and juice and zest of 1 lime.
Grilled skirt steak strips
2 (2 lb.) skirt steaks steaks, 1 packed TB light brown sugar, pinch salt, 2 tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 2 tsp chili powder
Rub on meat and allow to sit in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Grill until desired doneness. Slice and serve.
Grilled fruit with vanilla bean ice cream
1 ripe pineapple cut into 1/2 inch slices, 2 tbsp honey,1 tsp olive oil,1 tbsp fresh lime juice,1 tsp ground cinnamon.
Mix all ingredients except pineapple. Brush on pineapple, grill for 3 minutes on medium heat, flip and cook another 3 minutes.
Serve with vanilla ice cream.
Simple- yes. But I have found that these are 3 items that many mess up OR need a little help with. Plus, this is a fresh and healthy way to give DAD a meal t0 show your appreciation. Best part- you can buy everything you need to make this at Fresh Thyme Farmers Market!
Here is what the folks at FTFM had to say:
