Chipotle Cheddar Sausage Breakfast Pizza

This sausage breakfast pizza uses a combination of fresh sausage, scrambled eggs, and chipotle cheddar cheese.  It has just enough kick, but not too much for my children’s palates. It melts perfectly and gives this dish the perfect amount of zing!

I make my own pizza dough, but feel free to use what you are comfortable with. My go-to pizza dough recipe is from King Arthur Flour.

I use Italian pork sausage on this sausage breakfast pizza, but feel free to use whatever type of sausage your family enjoys. For the cheese, I use chipotle cheddar from Cabot Cheese. I think it gives the pizza a nice kick of spice. Of course, other pizza toppings can be added as well. I think onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms would be delicious on this sausage breakfast pizza.

Sausage Breakfast Pizza

Fresh, homemade pizza dough is topped with Italian pork breakfast sausage, fluffy scrambled eggs, and chipotle cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of fresh pizza dough
  • 4 eggs, scrambled
  • 1 pound of sausage, browned and well drained
  • 6-8 oz of shredded chipotle or medium cheddar cheese
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 2 TB olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  On a floured surface, roll the dough to a thin 14 inch circle.  Transfer to a greased baking sheet or pizza stone.  Poke random holes in the crust with a fork.
  2. In a small bowl combine olive oil, garlic and a pinch of salt and pepper.  Brush on crust and place crust in oven.
  3. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes.  Remove from oven and layer the sausage, eggs and cheese on the hot crust.  Return to oven for 5 minutes or until toppings are hot and bubbly.
