Double chocolate plum cookies are a delicious and healthy snack or dessert. Made with dried plums, white chocolate and dark cocoa, they’re perfect with a tall glass of milk or coffee.
You know, you really need to eat a few dried plums every day. Not only for the great taste, but for the healthy fiber. I don’t need to tell you why you may need additional fiber in your diet. Use your imagination here. ????
When I bought Plum Amazin’s by Sunsweet, there was a tiny recipe book included. I have made almost all of the recipes already!
Making changes to suit my taste and according to what I had on hand, I have 2 favorites so far: chicken wontons and these double chocolate plum cookies.
Before you ask, I will go ahead and answer what you may all be thinking:
1. No, I do not make money from Sunsweet.
2. This is not a sponsored post, but so what if it was? ????
I just happen to love this product and if I love it, I will blog about it! Isn’t that what we all do? Whether in the format of blogging or just chatting around the water cooler, we all share our opinions of the products we use, whether good or bad. This is just the forum I use to share.
When I made the double chocolate plum cookies, I didn’t mention to my boys that they have plums in them. They loved them!
Since making these again, I’ve left out the marshmallows called for in Sunsweet’s recipe. I prefer them that way, but the choice is yours!
I hope you love these double chocolate plum cookies!

Ingredients
- 1 C dried plums
- 3 TB of Brandy (optional)
- 1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 C unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/4 C granulated sugar
- 1/4 C brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 tsp almond extract (I didn’t use this)
- 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 C all-purpose unbleached flour (I used King Arthur white whole wheat)
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 C white chocolate chips or chunks
- 1/2 C mini-marshmallows (optional)
- parchment or cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Soak the dried plums in brandy for 5 minutes, strain, and set aside. I made these this way once and also skipped this step. Both ways turn out wonderfully, but the brandy does give the plums a great taste.
- Melt the semi-sweet chips in the microwave in a small bowl and set aside to cool for 5 minutes.
- With a mixer, beat butter and sugars in a large bowl until light and well mixed. Add the egg and extracts, mix until smooth.
- Beat melted chocolate into butter mixture until incorporated.
- Sift together flour, baking soda and salt; stir in to the chocolate mix. Stir in white chips, plums, and marshmallows (if using).
- Spray 2 baking sheets or line with parchment. Drop cookie dough in large spoonfuls onto baking sheets, leaving a bit of room around each.
- Bake for 12 minutes or until cookies are slightly firm. I like mine soft so I take them out at 12 minutes.
- Allow to cool and enjoy!
