Triple Berry Tea Recipe

Triple berry tea is a homemade blend of strawberry, blueberry, and blackberry puree that’s mixed into freshly brewed tea. It’s easy to make and incredibly refreshing!

Let it be known that I love iced tea!  I drink it almost every way that I can think of , unless it is pre-sweetened or comes out of a soda dispenser at a drive-through.  I know some of my friends to the south cannot fathom that I just said that I don’t like sweet tea.  Let me clarify, I do not like tea to be so sweet that I feel like my teeth are rotting with every sip.  I like a little sweetener…moderation is key ????

But one of my favorite ways to enjoy my iced tea is with a fruit puree.  If I had taken a picture yesterday I could show you my pretty peach tea I made.  Alas, the boys and I drank it before the thought occurred to me to snap a picture!

But today’s triple berry tea was made with a puree made from strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries, and it was so clean and refreshing!  If you are not a fan of seeds floating in your tea, make sure to strain your puree before adding your desired amount to your cooled tea base.

I like this tea, and the base of the berry mixture I make often and keep for a few days at a time. I add it to iced and hot tea, and even oatmeal. You can filter out the seeds, but I never do. I make it in a blender or Magic Bullet.

This is not a “recipe” per se, but more of a concoction I have come to rely on to spice up my tea of choice.  I go back and forth between black, green and white tea.  Luzianne, Lipton, Tazo and just fresh leaves that I get at a specialty store nearby.  Use what you have and what you like to drink.

Like summer, this triple berry tea should be easy, breezy and refreshing!

Ingredients

  • 1 pint of washed blackberries
  • 1 pint of washed raspberries
  • 2 C strawberries, chopped
  • sugar, if desired (2 TB)
  • 2 quarts freshly brewed tea, cooled

Instructions

  1. In a small food processor, puree the berries with the sugar. Strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve to get rid of the seeds (optional).
  2. Add your desired amount of puree to 2 quarts of freshly brewed and cooled tea. Whisk to incorporate.
  3. I used 3/4 cup of the puree for my tea. I really wanted to taste the flavor. Experiment here to see how much you want to use, it may not be what I like.

  1. I've been making tea smoothies since I've been on this diet. It's basically the same as yours but with ice and frozen berries. You should try it! I don't put sugar (big no no for me), but stevia can be used.
  2. lovely! do you live near a trader joes?? they have a SUPER ginger pear white tea (bags) that is sooooo refreshing. you would love in it your tea stash :)
  3. Ninette: I, too, use Stevia. I really prefer it. I read a book last summer which kind of scared me off of Splenda (Skinny Bitch..that's the title). I only use it is I have too. I will try your smoothie. That sounds like the best of both worlds :) Jo: I do live about 45 minutes form a Trader Joe's so I will have to try that tea! I am a big fan of peach tea but not ginger but I bet it is good :)
  4. This sounds delicious and wonderful for summer. I've seen your blog come up on a few of the other blogs I read and I have a totally random question for you - were you ever in a group on Babycenter? The name basilmomma is so familiar to me and I can't think of why! Or perhaps I've just seen it around the food blogs and it was stuck somewhere in the mess of my brain. LOL. Great site!
  5. Kristy: I am not sure how to email you... I don't remember joining BabyCenter...My youngest is 8 so it's been a while :) But, I would like to think you came across my name on a website! That means I am doing something right :) Nice to meet you and lovely site, by the way!

  7. This looks so pretty, and sounds wonderful! I LOVE iced tea, so adding some of my favorite fruit seems like a no brainer! Only I didn't think of it, so what does that say?
  8. Hi! I saw this at Made it on Monday. I'm from the South and I can't stand sweet tea! But I do drink my weight in unsweetened ice tea. Thaks for sharing this idea--I'll have to try adding fruit puree for a nice change.
