Meijer Healthy Resolutions -My Healthy Goals for 2015 #MeijerResolutions
I shop at literally 3 stores in my area on a regular basis and Meijer is one of them. So when they asked me to share a campaign to raise awareness about how small changes reap big rewards- I was excited to come on board. This post is sponsored by Meijer, but all opinions are my own and all products are in daily use in my house.
Whether you are new to my site (howdy and welcome!) or you have been following for a while (thank you!) then you may know that I am not big on making a list of resolutions every year. For me- that never seems to work. I prefer to call them ‘goals’ and go month by month.
But whereas I am a goal setter and a list maker I DO break my rules when it comes to my health. Yes, I set goals for weight loss and the like but I make RESOLUTIONS about lifestyle changes. Lifestyle changes, when made for the better, are the best resolutions to make in my opinion.
Meijer would like to help you make your own healthy resolutions for 2015 by providing resources and information to get you started on your journey to better or sustained good health. We are all probably in the same boat- busy, scattered, lacking proper sleep and maybe even need a nutritional boost. I know I sure fall into each of these categories.
Through Meijer I have highlighted a few of my favorite ways to stay on top of my own health and wellness. In addition to this, I want to share with you what my 2015 healthy resolutions are. I am all about transparency!
Meijer is supporting a healthy ‘you’ by stocking a full line of multivitamins and supplements- one stop shopping. This makes it easier when it comes time to shop thus bringing you one step closer to meeting your goals. I like a list with items checked off ????
*When you are looking for a multivitamin, look for one that has about 100% of the recommended daily value of the essential vitamins and minerals.
*Multivitamins are available in many forms. Try one type for a period of time to decide which option is the best for you.
*Read the labels. If it says ‘take with food’ then take it with food. The reasons are obvious.
*What is good for you is not necessarily good for your kids. Consult your pediatrician before starting your children on a new vitamin regimen.
*Take what you actually need and know why you are taking it. Every day of every day your best resource is your doctor. A real doctor not one who plays one on television. Or the internet. Do not WebMD what you need (in my opinion).
My goals for 2015 are pretty simple and after a conversation with my doctor a few weeks ago, I now know what I need. Everyone’s needs are personal and personalized. I may need more iron while another woman my age and size may not. There are no cookie cutter shortcuts to good overall health!
*I need more sleep. Not just more hours but better quality sleep. We do not watch TV in bed and lately I don’t even read in bed. I used to binge watch shows on my Ipad and always regretted it when the alarm went off in the morning. I stopped doing that and save my binge watching for the elliptical. Also, I plug my phone in a few feet out of reach so I am not tempted to check on my email or work when I need to be sleeping. I picked up some Valerian to help with this. I picked up capsules in the vitamin isle.
*Water. I drink a lot of water but not nearly enough. I picked up a new OXO water bottle that fits in my purse and is easily refillable while out and about.
*Movement and weight training. I need to make a better effort at moving and breaking a sweat 30 minutes daily. I picked up a few more weights to assist in my weight training. Combining cardio and weights is integral to my goal of getting to a more healthy weight. Remember how I lost over 150 pounds a few years ago? Well I have gained about 1/2 of that back. This makes me sad.
*Remembering to take my vitamins and only taking what I need. My goal is to maintain health, have stronger hair and nails, keep my blood pressure low and be good to my heart. B Vitamins, Biotin, and my daily multivitamin will help with this. I love that the Alive vitamin I chose is chewy. I am not good at taking large pills.
*Yogurt, Kefir or probiotics daily. I swear by kefir and if you can find a tasty version then drink 4-6 ounces daily. That is my preferred way to get the probiotics I need. OR, I eat 1 carton of Activia a day for breakfast.
*Motivation. I have good intentions and I want to meet my goals. Finding motivation is key and where I fail. I am working on changing that.
Now it’s YOUR turn! How do YOU intend to stay healthy in 2015? What are your best tips, tricks and advice you can share?
