Metamucil Recipes

Yes, you read that right. I am sharing a post about the health benefits of integrating Metamucil into your daily routine- with recipes! Get the vision of a thick or chalky drink you have to gulp down out of your head. Instead feast your eyes on simple to make muffins, iced tea and milk shakes. Sounds delish? That’s because it is!

As you may know, most Americans don’t get enough fiber in their diet, which helps maintain a healthy weight and lower your risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Metamucil

I’m working with Metamucil and Meijer to educate Americans on the importance of fiber and how easy {and tasty!} it is to get the recommended amount.

Here are a few simple and easy ways to incorporate Meta into your daily routine. It’s not just for your Granny anymore- there is a way to get your fiber intake in these easy ways!

Meijer offers Metamucil probiotic supplements and the new health bars that make it easy to get the recommended amount of daily fiber, satisfy hunger and enjoy a smart snack. Currently, you can get a $1 off coupon from MPerks.com an online coupon program from Meijer.

Metamucil Recipes

Morning Meta Muffins (with blueberries or banana)

1 cup of fat-free milk

1 egg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup applesauce

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

*2/3 cup of brown sugar

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 cup blueberries (or 1 mashed banana)

12 teaspoon Sugar-Free Original Smooth Metamucil® powder

Pre-heat oven to 375 ̊F. Mix milk, egg, vanilla, applesauce, cinnamon and sugar. In separate container mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Slowly add flour mixture to milk mixture, once well mixed, add blueberries and mix in the Metamucil then pour into muffin tin. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

Drink 8 ounces of water with each muffin

Easy Milk Shakes

1 cup of low-fat milk

1 rounded teaspoon Metamucil Original Coarse or Metamucil Sugar Free Original Smooth powder

1 tablespoon chocolate syrup

1/2 cup of ice cubes

Combine milk, the Metamucil powder and chocolate syrup in your favorite shaker or in a blender.

Add crushed or cubed ice and blend until ice is crushed.

Garnish your simple shake as desired —fresh strawberries are delicious!

Iced Tea

1 cup cold brewed  tea

1 rounded teaspoon Metamucil Original Coarse

crushed or cubed ice

Combine all in a shaker or blender until smooth.

Add sweetener or lemon- to taste.

This is also great with lemonade instead of tea (no need to add lemon or sweetener to that!)
