Freezer jam is an easy condiment to make, and it’s a great way to use up fresh summer berries to enjoy them all year long! This easy strawberry freezer jam recipe is one you will want to enjoy in sandwiches, on toast, biscuits, or even stirred in to yogurt or served over ice cream!
We have probably all made a batch of freezer jam at one time or another, especially during the summer. Fresh berries are so scrumptious we want to preserve them for later enjoyment, especially strawberries. If you have been around this site for a while, you probably know about my infatuation with strawberries. ????
My kids love it when I make this easy strawberry freezer jam recipe for them to use on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I have to admit…I started making freezer jam several years ago, simply because I was to0 cheap to buy a candy thermometer. I was told by a seasoned jam making pro that you need one to make traditional jam recipes with. So I skipped ahead, buying Sure-Jell pectin to make freezer jam, and my family has always been happy with it. I have made many, many flavors of freezer jam!
Hot pepper, blackberry, strawberry, mixed berry, rhubarb, red currant…on and on. I just love knowing I have something in the freezer that I can take out and eat and it is as fresh as the day it was canned. A little bit of the old school cook in me. ????
I also love that I can control the amount of sugar, as well as the ingredients. I love jams and preserves, but store bought varieties can sometimes be loaded with sugar and preservatives. So if I want to ‘have my jam and eat it too’ then I make my own!
So here is my recipe for making strawberry freezer jam.
It is from Sure-Jell. The plastic containers (which I prefer for freezing) are from Ball brand and available anywhere.
NOTE: *This is NOT a low sugar recipe, but one is available at the link below this recipe*
