How to Cook Dried Beans and Freeze Them for Later -it’s an easy way to preserve foods in the freezer and all you need is a container or ziplock bag.
How to Cook Dried Beans and Freeze Them for Later:
Label a freezer bag with the type of bean, amount and date they were cooked
Place cooked and cooled beans in the freezer bag
Place a bit of the cooking water in with the beans.
Remove all air and seal carefully.
Lay freezer bag flat horizontally to store in the freezer.
Remove to use later in your favorite recipe.
Frozen cooked beans last in the freezer up to 5 months
I tested out several ways and I found that the beans are best when you add a bit of the cooking liquid to the bag. I tried “flash freezing” beans so I could scoop out what I wanted more easily. I found that the flash freezing process made the beans more- mealy.
