The Earth Eats: Real Food, Green Living Cookbook, released in March 2017, is packed full of recipes focused on using local products, sustainability, and popular farm-to-fork dining trends. The cookbook is written by Earth Eats radio host, Annie Corrigan, with contributions from Chef Daniel Orr.

I’m going to explain a bit about the book and why I love it so much, and then, I’m going to give you the opportunity to win a free copy of the book, so keep reading!

I’m excited to announce the launch of the Earth Eats cookbook for several reasons.

First of all, the writer and contributor are both Indiana “celebrities”. Annie Corrigan is an on-air personality and producer for WFIU Public Radio and the host of the Earth Eats radio show and podcast. Chef Daniel Orr is the owner of FARMbloomington Restaurant and author of several cookbooks, including FARMfood: Green Living with Chef Daniel Orr, and Paradise Kitchen.

Using locally sourced ingredients when I cook is important to me. That’s why I use Indiana Pork, Red Gold Tomatoes, and Best Boy products in so many of my recipes. The recipes in the cookbook are made with locally sourced ingredients, so, in a round about way, creating recipes from the Earth Eats cookbook helps us contribute to the success of small business owners.

Truthfully speaking, I don’t consider myself to be a “green living” person, but a focus on sustainability helps to keep our world a cleaner, better place, so I know that it’s important.

Another benefit of Earth Eats that I like is that it is perfect for cooks and gardeners of all skill levels.

It’s also great for anyone who wants to feel more connected with their local food community.

Grouped by season, Earth Eats features more than 200 delicious, original, and tested recipes. There are over 140 color photos, and tips for sustainable and successful gardening and cooking.

Earth Eats will be a kitchen staple all year long, too! It includes tips on preparing a perfect omelet, keeping a garden efficient and productive in the fall, and even tips on raising chickens.

For me personally, the most exciting part about the Earth Eats cookbook is this…

Orr and Corrigan highlight individuals on the front lines of our changing food ecosystem. They feature recipes, stories, and tips from expert chefs and gardeners who are familiar with the unique challenges and opportunities of eating and growing local food. And you guys, four of the featured recipes in the book are mine!!

That’s right, the author chose to include my recipes in her book. Purchase a copy to see my recipes for:

peach mojitos,

pick your own berries cobbler (based on my recipe for blueberry-nectarine biscuit top cobbler)

no-dairy necessary corn chowder, (based on my creamy Indiana corn chowder recipe)

And of course, I couldn’t forget about Hoosier sugar cream pie!
