Diy salad dressings- make your own in no time for a fraction of the cost of store bought!
In my last ever Eating Around INdy segment with Fox59 I decided to share 3 quick and easy DIY salad dressings. Sometimes is IS easier to just grab a few bottles at the store, but when you have more time why not make the most out of ingredients you may already have on hand at home?
I am only sharing 3 today but really- your options are only limited by your imagination. There is a simple formula that I follow for my vinaigrette style dressings and I pretty much use the same recipes for my creamy concoctions. I swap out cheeses and herbs- but other than that it stays the same.

Tahini Dressing:
1/3 C Tahini
1/3 C water
1/3 C fresh lemon juice
pinch of salt
fresh black pepper
1/4 tsp sugar
Emulsify in a small food processor, add to a shaker (and really shake hard) or whisk vigorously in a large bowl.
Makes a little more than 1 C of dressing. Use immediately.
Mustard Vinaigrette:
(Use Dijon but this time I used grainy Best Boy deli-mustard)
1 TB mustard
1 1/2 TB red wine vinegar
1/4 C olive oil
salt and pepper to taste.
Emulsify in a small food processor, add to a shaker (and really shake hard) or whisk vigorously in a large bowl.
Buttermilk and Blue Cheese Dressing
1/4 C buttermilk
1 TB white vinegar
2 TB low-fat mayo
2 TB crumbled blue cheese
salt and pepper to taste
Pulse to combine in a small food processor, add to a shaker (and really shake hard) or whisk vigorously in a large bowl.
