Great Giveaway…..

And the winner is: DIANA!!  She also happens to be the owner of the site: Veggie Next Door

Congratulations DIANA and thank you to Random.org for calculating the winner!

Exciting news!!  On July 15th I am participating in an interactive post with author and restaurateur Ann Gentry.  She is the owner/chef of Real Food Daily and a pioneer in the vegan and green food movement.  I was asked by her publisher to make one of her recipes (Lasagna Rolls), blog about it and then as Ann 5 questions that she would answer in my post.  Of course I said yes and I am so glad I did!

On June 15th the cookbook Vegan Family Meals was made available to purchase in bookstores as well as at Amazon .  In honor of the roll out of this amazing cookbook I am giving away a copy to one lucky winner!

Along with this cookbook  I am also throwing in 2 of my favorite things!  Anytime I leave the house for more than a few hours I have to pack a few snacks for the boys.  You just never know when hunger may strike and being prepared beats hitting the drive-through any day.  I almost never leave home without a packed insulated lunch bag from Thirty-One.  Malita Funk ,my Thirty-One consultant, has contributed a bag to my Must Have Giveaway.  I am a huge fan of Thirty-one, their amazing products and their ability to help me stay organized and prepared.  Their patterns are modern and are not at all “diaper bag” looking like some can be.

And the last item in my Must Have Giveaway is a selection of tea from Paromi Tea .  Paromi’s products have been featured in Marie Claire, Food&Wine, Men’s Fitness, Women’s Health and are carried in a variety of health food stores and markets like Whole Foods and Wild Oats.  One of the items in the selection will be their indulgent Chocolate Orange tea.  This black tea has a subtle flavor of  chocolate and just a hint of citrus.  Great hot or cold it is sure to be a summer time favorite!

So here’s how you can enter:

  1. Heather...I am holding my breath & jumping up and down, waving my arms....so you better pick me or I am sure to Die! (lol) But really...I would absolutely love to win that cook book! I am in dire need of some new "V"-Friendly dishes. One item my family loves that contains no meat are Fritata's. I am "sneak" in lots of different veggies. :) I am also linking this to my (2) FB pages. A snack I always like to take along, are red grapes that have been frozen. And my daughters favorite snack item are granola bars. I am so envious of you getting to meet Ann Gentry!
  2. Our family favorite is my vegan tacos & enchiladas! We eat it every week! Awesome on top of a salad or in brown rice tortillas-side of my homemade corn & black bean salsa. Our snack on the go, is a trailmix blend I create :) -Kristin B. [email protected] www.trimindoverbody.blogspot.com
  3. As an almost ten year vegetarian there are bunches of dishes we have tried. Our go to, often repeated dishes are pasta with whatever veggies we need to use up and burritos. I love trying out new recipes though (my husband does not appreciate them as he would prefer McD's for dinner each night). Cauliflower cakes are a favorite too! My email is eligabiff at gmail dot com.
  4. A portable snack for my daughter.. still formula. She is just now starting to eat so we don't really have "snack" foods. Does that count? :) eligabiff at gmail dot com
  5. Pick me pick me. What wonderful prizes you give away. I always pack a sandwich baggie with nuts. Usually almonds, walnuts and pistachios with bottled water.
  6. Meatless: My family loves my pesto bread sticks with a side of marinara...yum! The pesto is made from my garden basil and farmers market garlic. To save money I use walnuts instead of pine nuts. For a snack I've found it's more about the packaging the the contents. I like snapware which has a nice divided container where I put veggie sticks on one side and some dip on the other. My son thinks this is really fun. Small thermos of milk, works every time.
  7. One thing I pack as a portable snack is homemade trail mix - we eat a lot of nuts and dried fruit. My favourite combo right now is dried apricots and Brazil nuts. ikkinlala AT yahoo DOT ca
  8. For a snack, I pack raw almonds with dried apricots, salty and sweet. AND we always have stove popped popcorn with garlic powder and season salt on hand!!
  9. We LOVE risotto!!! Who knew the secret to the creaminess has NOTHING to do with milk, butter or cheese?? You can find the secret on my blog: sneakyvegan [dot] blogspot [dot] com. You can find me at sneakyvegan [at] gmail [dot] com. I posted on the SneakyVegan Facebook page as well. PS - The Vanilla Bourbon balls are my favorite snack-on-the-go.
