Healthier Chocolate Peanut Butter Dip

How are your new year resolutions holding up? In case you have forgotten, I do not make resolutions, but I do make goals. This year, the goals are to sleep well, eat better, and spend as much time as possible with my family, because life is too short not to. But I don’t think it is reasonable to expect myself to eat well and avoid chocolate now and then. In my opinion, the best way to marry the two ideas is to make a healthier chocolate dessert like this chocolate peanut butter dip recipe.

I don’t think I know of any kids who don’t like sweet dips as after school snacks. Besides the peanut butter chocolate dip, another favorite at our house is Pumpkin Pie Dessert Dip. Actually, my boys like savory dips, too. Ranch hummus dip with a few veggies for dipping is a healthy snack to hold them over until dinner.

The dip recipe is super easy to make, with just 4 ingredients and a few minutes of your time. In fact, it is easy enough that even when they were younger, my boys could make this dip by themselves. Measuring ingredients is a great way to teach kids math and when they know that they will get to eat their delicious dip after they have made it, kids tend to get really excited and enthusiastic about the process. It allows bonding time without distractions like phones and video games, too.

How to Make Healthier Chocolate Peanut Butter Dip

When I make the healthier chocolate peanut butter dip, I use low fat cream cheese and low sugar chocolate syrup. You can lighten it up even more by using low sugar peanut butter. If you have a peanut allergy, you can swap it out for almond butter or cashew butter. If you can’t find sugar-free chocolate syrup, you can use unsweetened cocoa powder or melt some dark chocolate instead.

I hope you and your kids enjoy this easy, sweet dip recipe!
