I am excited to visit the Fresh Thyme Farmers Market on West 86th Street in Indianapolis, Indiana again this weekend and this time the theme is wellness.

I will be juicing ALL the produce for the Fresh Thyme guests as part of the wellness fair along with several others in the health and wellness field.

The concept of juicing fresh fruits and vegetables is not a new one (do you remember Jack Lalanne ??) but it can be a confusing one. I do not own a juicer and I most likely never will. But that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy fresh juice!

I use the Vitamix 5200 my parents got me for my birthday. I follow the simple process of fruits veggies in first then the liquid, then I slowly increase the speed until I get the consistency I want. I don’t mind my juice  recipes to be pulpy- but you can always strain it through cheesecloth. That’s too much work for me. You don’t need a Vitamix-  just adapt your speed and time of blending according to the unit you have.

At Fresh Thyme I will be making the following juices. I contacted Vitamix for their best tips on making juice and they sent me links to 5 recipes. I tried them out on my family and they were winners! Click on each name to see the recipe. You will see there are no special steps, weird ingredients or ingredients that sound like they taste like grass!

Ginger Greens Juice

Carrot Juice Plus

Citrus Carrot Juice

Pineapple Whole Fruit Juice

Strawberry Coconut Agua Fresca

I hope you try a few of these juice recipes out. Want more bulk? Add a bit of ice or coconut water. Make sure all of your produce is scrubbed and washed before use. Drink right away as these do not have a ‘shelf life’. Using a blender that crushes ice well really helps. Also, if yours will accommodate a tamper, that helps to keep the ingredients moving.

Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions or if YOU tried one of these!
