Local favorite, Salsa Me Krazy, now has a new retail home at Marsh Supermarkets. SMK has been an instant hit amongst salsa lovers and condiment fans alike since it debuted a few years ago. With it’s fresh, rich and tangy flavor, no preservatives and family backstory- this salsa is really making a name for itself.

I had owner Brenda Gay on Around the Kitchen Sink Radio where she shared how the recipe got it’s name and how she developed this recipe with her mother. (Listen to that HERE).

Deciding to become an entrepreneur is a big decision and one that Indiana resident Brenda Gay has thrown herself into without looking back. She refined the recipe, found a commercial kitchen to make, pack and ship the salsa and she pounds the pavement to find retail locations. Anyone who has done this before knows how much work this is. I am only too happy to share her good news and offer up a gift pack of salsa for YOU to try!

How do YOU enjoy salsa? On tacos, with chips or in recipes? For me it is all of the above. I use it weekly in some form or another. Here are just a few ways you can enjoy salsa in YOUR kitchen:

-Bruschetta: instead of diced tomatoes from a can mix a few tablespoons of salsa with a tablespoon of diced sweet onion, and a pinch of dried cilantro. This makes a great topping for toasted baguette sliced and an accompaniment to soups and stews.

-Mac N Cheese: Add 1 cup of salsa to a finished recipe of mac n cheese. It adds color and flavor to the traditionally cheesy dish.

-Pizza: instead of a pizza sauce use salsa instead.

-BBQ Topper: Instead of ketchup or BBQ sauce use salsa to top your grilled items instead.

Burgers: Add 1 cup of salsa to 1 pound of ground meat, shape into 4 patties and grill. This keeps the meat more moist.

-Soups: Add salsa to vegetable soups or any soup or stew that would benefit from this zesty kick!

-Dips: Yes this is an obvious one but have you ever poured 1 cup of salsa over 1 block of cream cheese? Heat the cream cheese in the microwave for 1-1.5 minutes. Remove from microwave and pour the salsa over the top. This is a quick and easy way to put an appetizer out for unexpected guests.

-Shredded Chicken: In a slow cooker add 1 pound of boneless, skinless chicken to 1 jar of salsa. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, shred with a fork and serve on buns or tortillas.

-Guacamole: Add 1 jar of salsa to 2 mashed avocados. Fold together and serve with dipables.
