Creamy Tomato Bacon Onion Dip-A Taste of Indiana

Welcome! Are you a subscriber? Click here to receive my weekly newsletter. Thanks for visiting!

Growing up in the Hoosier state, many foods come to mind when I am thinking of a distinct Indiana flavor.  One of my favorite things I remember growing up was that on Friday night’s my mother would make creamy onion dip.  We scooped up giant bites of it with locally made Charlie’s Chips or corn chips.  This is something that has always stuck out in my mind especially as I am raising 2 kids of my own.

Indiana is known for many things, among them corn, tomatoes and pork.  I wanted to incorporate the dip of my childhood with staples of my mid-western state.  Indiana is home to one of the largest canned tomato companies in the world, Red Gold Tomatoes, so it was only natural that I include their petite diced variety in this dip.  Taking the flavor of a classic BLT and blending that with the traditional onion dip, this creamy tomato bacon recipe was gone in 5 minutes.  My family of taste testers loved every bit!
This is best well chilled and in my opinion-served with corn chips.  It would also pair well with fresh veggies and disks of fresh squash and zucchini.
