Cold Weather Drink Recipes – Hot Lemonade + Hot Chocolate

Today’s cold weather drink recipes are perfect for those nights when you’re chilled to the bone and you want to warm up quickly. After a night of Trick or Treating or Christmas caroling, kid friendly hot lemonade and hot chocolate will hit the spot!

You have heard already how much I love the new Gooseberry Patch cookbook Slow Cooking All Year Round.  I have talked about it several times on my radio show Around the Kitchen Sink and I was also lucky enough to have creators JoAnn and Vickie on my show a few weeks ago!

I wanted to try a few different recipes on Superbowl Sunday, maybe a few cold weather drink recipes, since I knew we had plenty of good food planned already.  First up was a refreshing Hot Lemonade.  This one is great if you need a warm pick me up after you have been out shoveling snow or grocery shopping, which I had been doing.  You cannot deny the effectiveness of warm, lemon infused water with honey to treat a sore throat.  This recipe was easy and my kids really liked it.  Next time I will back off of the sugar, it was a bit too sweet for me.  I am giving the proportions as the recipe states so you can make your own determination there.  I served each with a cinnamon stick!

The next recipe, for the perfect hot chocolate, is by far my favorite so far.  Noah, the hot chocolate expert in the family, thinks this is the best he has ever had.  It serves enough for you plus company and could not be more simple to throw together.  Your house will smell SO good while this is heating up all in your slow cooker!

Do you have any favorite cold weather drink recipes?

I’d love for you to share them with me in the comments!
