Calling All Bakers….

Welcome! Are you a subscriber? Click here to receive my weekly newsletter. Thanks for visiting!

You don’t have to be a chef, food writer or blogger to be a fabulous baker in your own right. I mean, I am not the best baker, as I have mentioned here in the past.  Now that doesn’t mean that I can’t make a perfect, flaky scone, because I can.  I will admit it. Scones are my thing. But real baking, beautiful cakes with delightful icing…well, that is a tough one for me.

The important thing is that I try.  My confections may not be beautiful but they are almost always tasty.  My family accepts this. It has almost become a joke, actually.  Deflated souffle’s, domed cakes and pasty icings are like my calling cards.  I think if I got it right they may start to expect treats more…so I think I will keep them on their toes for a while longer.

A few weeks ago I was asked by my friend, Tim Burton of Burton’s Maplewood Farms to serve on the panel of judges at the National Maple Syrup Festival in Medora, Indiana on March 3, 4, 10 and 11th.  I was thrilled, not only to be a part of this incredible event, but also because I will be a judge in the King Arthur Flour Sweet Victory Challenge Baking Contest held during the festival as well!

This event will be held both on site at Burton’s and in the heart of the town of Medora, Indiana.  I am excited to be a part of this!

Now to the part you all want to know about: how can you ENTER?  Click this LINK to enter your original recipe that uses a King Arthur product as well as view the rules.  Best part is that you don’t have to be present to enter, let alone be an Indiana resident.  This is open to anyone who meets the qualifications of the contest. Please see all rules on the KAF website ????

When you visit the Burton’s Maplewood Farms website be sure to check out their media page for a great interview with Chef Daniel Orr and Tim Burton as well as a nice little plug by Jimmy Fallon on his show a few weeks ago!
