This strawberry crostini appetizer is topped with a sweetened mixture of creamy yogurt and cream cheese, fresh strawberries, crisp bacon, sweet basil, and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. It’s a quick and easy appetizer that’s perfect for a weekend brunch or summer cocktail party.

Last week, I shared a recipe for cheesecake stuffed strawberries with you. That recipe, as well as today’s strawberry crostini, were made during my recent appearance on IndyStyle.

You can watch the entire segment here, or go to the cheesecake stuffed strawberries post, because you will find it in that post, too.

So, back to this strawberry crostini appetizer.

I have professed my love for fresh strawberries in a lot of posts on this blog. It’s no secret that if I had to choose just one berry to eat, strawberries would be my choice. They are sweet, juicy, affordable, healthy, and versatile. They can be used in sweet dishes like strawberry pancakes or peanut butter strawberry jam bars, or in savory dishes like strawberry salsa or this strawberry crostini appetizer.

No matter how you decide to use your fresh strawberries, it is pretty important to make sure that you wash and dry them well before using them. Otherwise, there’s a chance of ingesting chemical residue from pesticides and fertilizers that may have been used by the farmers.

As you slice the strawberries for this recipe, keep in mind that they will be placed on top of toasted bread with a mixture of yogurt and cream cheese, with crispy bacon and fresh basil. (Those are pretty amazing toppings, right?)

My point is, you will want to make sure that the slices are thin enough that they can easily be bitten into along with all of the other ingredients.

I hope you like this strawberry crostini appetizer recipe!
