When I say “What produce is in season in October?”, I bet many of you instantly think of pumpkins and cranberries, right?  Well, there are lots of other fresh fruits and vegetables available in the category of seasonal October produce.

Because October is just a few days away, I’m going to share the list of the produce that will be prime to use in October, along with 16 delicious recipes to help you use it.

A list of the Seasonal October Produce and 16 delicious recipes that you can create with it! - Get the info and recipes on basilmomma.com

Seasonal October Produce – The Fruits

Apples

Apples grow all year long, but varieties like Honeycrisp, Gala, and McIntosh are best when they’re picked in October. Try them baked!

Berries

Blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries are all prime for picking in October. Make up some blackberry jam shortbread bars, or maybe some blueberry lime muffins.

Figs

They’re a delicious Fall fruit that’s in season from summer through mid-November. Doesn’t Prosciutto, Fig, and Arugula Pizza sound delicious?

Limes

Chili Lime Chicken Guacamole Burger, anyone? It’s a chicken burger of the most delicious kind!

Oooo! This key lime cheesecake would be nice for dessert.

Grapes

How about making some grape freezer jam or some chicken Waldorf salad with grapes this weekend?

Kiwi

Kiwi are ripe and ready to eat in October and November, and nothing could be more adorably delicious than fruit salad served in a kiwi cup.

(Did you click on that fruit salad link? You really need to. I’m not kidding… the kiwi cups are so cute!)

Pears

Fall is the best season to pick them. Dare ya to take one bite of these grilled pears with caramel and chocolate and tell me they’re not delicious.

Seasonal October Produce – The Veggies

Sweet Corn

Knee high by the fourth of July, and it peaks in September and October! Use my tips on how to freeze corn for future use and you’ll be able to make yourself some grilled duck with bacon, corn and blueberries.

Eggplant

It’s an excellent autumn vegetable for ratatouille or healthy eggplant pizzas.

Okra

This southern, strange looking veggie is often overlooked as seasonal October produce. Give it a try in a New Orleans side dish, Maque Choux.

Sweet Bell Peppers

Grab ’em, munch on ’em, and devour them in casseroles, stuffed pepper soup, and downright adorable Jack ‘o Lantern stuffed bell peppers.
