* We all know her- the perky girl who bounces into work in the morning. It’s barely 8 am and she has already had a workout, walked the dog, packed her family a nutritious lunch and her hair is perfectly coiffed.  All this, and she looks like a runway model for Givenchy. Was she just born this way or does she know something we don’t know?

Chances are the secret to her success is something she ate.  How you look and feel is a direct reflection of what you eat, and more importantly, what you assimilate.  It affects everything, even what you wouldn’t expect right away.  From the bumps on your arms to the luster of your hair, all of these things hinge on what you put in and on your body.

Food shapes the way you think, the way you process information, the clarity of your ideas and thoughts, your mood, your energy, not to mention your waistline!  Life all about food, and that is a good thing, because who doesn’t love food?

What Can YOU do About it?
My birthday is in a week. Now, whereas I am not the crypt keeper, I am no spring chicken either.  The first 20 or so years of my life were spent lounging in the sun with reckless abandon.  The word sunscreen never crossed my lips as I slathered on iodine laced baby oil and frolicked the hours away outdoors.  I grew up in a time where indoor tanning was the norm and one never thought twice about ingesting large amounts of soda and processed foods.  The information was just not out there.
As the years have rolled by I have taken more and special care of my largest organ-my skin.  I still love the sun, that will not change, but I do practice the habit of using a high SPF on my face and on my danger zone: shoulders and shins.  My kids think it is funny to try to connect my sunspots that have cropped up over the years.
Many of us never think to use simple kitchen items to moisturize or treat our skin.  Recently, I made a facial masque that I found in Must Have Been Something I Ate  that I use a few times a week using foods that I normally have on hand anyway.  This treatment is simple to whip up and smells great too!
So today, I am sharing a recipe- for your face.  It contains natural alpha-hydroxyacid in the buttermilk, vitamins A and E in the Avocado, Potassium from the banana and vitamin E from the Kiwi.
Peggy will be sharing more in a few weeks when she is a guest on my show Around the Kitchen Sink! Details forthcoming ????

Revitalizing Face Masque

This is just the formula I used. I wanted to make sure I had somewhat equal proportions. I left this on until dry and have been using 3-4 times a week! It has really helped with my summer dryness.
