What Would YOU do to End Child Hunger…

Welcome! Are you a subscriber? Click here to receive my weekly newsletter. Thanks for visiting!

As a small child, I remember my family receiving the gift of food from a local church.  I was very young but this stuck with me.  Everyone says they want to help this cause or that one but how many people actually know what it feels like to go to bed hungry?

There are so many problems that face a struggling family from health issues to finding a steady job, and feeding your family is another.  One minute things are fine, then the next you are suffering the ripple effects of losing a job or sustaining an injury that prevents you from working.  This is the cause of what has been known as ‘The Working Poor’.  Living paycheck to paycheck, making $30 last for a week until you can find a source of income…this is a real life scenario for many people in America.  Not just in the poorest area’s either.  These people are our neighbors, our friends…it’s us.

Help End Child Hunger : HERE

Who is Helping to End Child Hunger…
Feeding America’s network serves nearly 14 million children each year, and since 2006, the
organization has seen a 50 percent increase in the number of children relying on the services
provided by food banks. Of the 14 million children served, 3 million are under the age of 5.

ConAgra Foods is Feeding America’s Leadership Partner in the fight to end child hunger.  The
company and the ConAgra Foods Foundation have collectively donated more than 275 million
pounds of food and invested more than $36 million dollars to combat child hunger since 1993.
The Foundation, the philanthropic organization primarily funded by ConAgra Foods, is in the
midst of a $10 million, 5-year commitment to Feeding America.

Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, with more than 200
member food banks serving all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Each year, Feeding America member food banks feed more than 37 million Americans who live
without consistent access to food, including 14 million children and nearly 3 million seniors.

As a homeless teen, I experienced the epidemic of hunger first-hand. Now, as a new mother, it breaks my heart to
know that children suffer from this every day,” said Jewel. “I’m honored and humbled to be able to help those in
need through the Child Hunger Ends Here program and say to our friends and neighbors struggling with hunger,
Here’s hope.’” ~ Jewel
