Truely Fresh…..

I know I  have mentioned this many times, but I am quite a citrus fan.  Whether in a glass of water or squeezed over a bowl of fruit, oranges, lemons and limes make an appearance in my daily life.  I just love the bright , healthy zing they give a dish.  This doesn’t mean that I am toting around a baggie of lemon wedges in my purse, though.

Often, especially in the winter, I need a whole citrus fruit and I don’t have a good fresh one here at home or worse, they just look awful at the store.  I end up buying them but they are bitter or flavorless and yielding very little in the way of juice.

I stumbled upon a new line of products by TrueCitrus that was so exciting to me that I had to share it with you!  This line of portable and packable crystallized citrus juice is a great way to add a little zest to almost anything!  There are no additives or preservatives just pure citrus flavor in an easy to use packet or shaker.  I keep a shaker of TrueLemon by the stove and have added to just about everything!  I even used it to finish off my Broccoli Cheddar soup a few weeks ago!

I added a few packets of TrueLime to my favorite fruit salad and over spring break I made a batch of sugar cookies using 7 packets of TrueLemon.  My panel of taste testers never knew that it was not fresh lemon juice and zest in the dough.

The options are limitless.  A few great ways I have used these products in the last few weeks are:
In a pitcher of water, perfect for sipping throughout the day and helps us all get our 8 glasses in.
In a few of my favorite mixed drinks and a packet in a pint of beer…PERFECT!
In marinades and dressings, rubbed on meat and fish….I could go ON AND ON!!

My point is, I am not one to use something new.  I am a creature of habit.  But I got my hands on this entire line and have now made a special place in my pantry for what I now call a pantry staple.

My FAVORITE, besides the shaker of TrueLemon, is the lemonade mix in the little tubes! Perfect for  using with a bottle of water!
